Blog 1: Interview Option 1

The health issues I am most concerned about is obesity and Cancer. Obesity is a huge epidemic in America and more than half of my family is affected by it. Cancer is being seen more and more every day and my step uncle got it and died and now my aunt has breast cancer. It directly impacts my family.

I sent out multiple requests for this interview and I picked the 3 responses to encompass as broad a range as possible for this survey interview.

The first one we have is Sheila Roman; she is in her fifties, and also a mother and wife from California. She is of Native American decent. Her top health concerns are Heart health, diabetes, and woman’s cancers because these are health problems that run in her family.

The second woman chosen for this survey was Jenni Martinez. She is a 30 year old Hispanic woman working on her Doctorate degree in San Antonio. Her top health concern is Cancer. She says, “It has no cure and is an almost silent killer.”

Last but certainly not least is Cara Dawson who is a woman in her forties of Caucasian decent and a mother of 2. When asked what her top health concern was, she responded with, “Cancer, Heart Disease, and Obesity.” She feels that there is a direct correlation between cancer and processed foods. These health issues are killing her loved ones and destroying the health of many Americans.

After looking at my health concerns and the concerns of the other women that I interviewed, it seems as though we all have a lot in common although we mostly come from different backgrounds. We have deep concern about the health risks affecting our country and families.
